What we offer

Career Path

There are many benefits in joining our trainee programme, but we would like to share a perspective from Jezaia van der Watt who is in his 2nd year of the Trainee Programme as he talks about one of the most important and exciting benefits for him in being a part of the programme Is combining his passions with his day to day working life.

“Prior to joining  Aspida I was struggling to find a role locally that could utilise my engineering skills. Having completed my secondary education, I found myself taking part-time roles in the retail sector. The Trainee Programme at Aspida has empowered me to apply my engineering background and particularly my interest in AI and bringing automation to the work place. Part of my role is to be immersed in the rapidly changing world of AI and related topics. I get to research new technology, and learn how to use software such as our cutting edge GRC software Resolver, which pushes the boundaries of the industries’ standard for compliance and risk management. I find joy in knowing, that the successful projects I complete, will end up saving people’s time, making many of their work processes easier (And therefore my productivity increases “their” productivity).”

Daniel Radford

Compliance Consultant

The trainee programme has given me a great base for my career, including exposure to multiple sectors and various aspects of risk and compliance. I’m looking forward to the coming years as I continue my own development and assist the newer trainees joining the business

Bee McDaid and Dan Radford were the initial members of Aspida’s Trainee Programme in 2019, designed to ensure that the future workforce of our governance, risk and compliance advisory businesses had the necessary skills and aptitude to maximise the benefits of our technology platform and added value people overlay.

Peter Mills, Joint Chair, explains “shortages of compliance and risk experienced individuals have been a challenge for some time, we identified this and wanted to invest in our future leaders. Our culture is such that this is as much about helping the next generation as it is about meeting our business needs and those of our clients”.

Blaine says “The trainee programme has been a wonderful opportunity, allowing me to gain my advanced certificate and diploma with the International Compliance Association as well as personal development within the role. It has been a great kick start for my career progression and I am excited to share my experience and knowledge with our future trainees.”

Dan adds “The trainee programme has given me a great base for my career, including exposure to multiple sectors and various aspects of risk and compliance. I’m looking forward to the coming years as I continue my own development and assist the newer trainees joining the business.”

Graduate Spotlight

John Le Noury

I joined the Aspida Group trainee scheme in 2021, after graduating from Exeter University with no real idea of how to make my time in education materialise into employment.

I approached a local recruitment agency, sharing my skills, expertise and studies and from there I was put in contact with a variety of options in the Guernsey Finance World.

Of all my options, Aspida Group was the only choice that stood out, because it offered a trainee scheme where I could see clear progression and the opportunity for professional development that my academic background would lend easily to.

Within 1 year of the trainee scheme, I had passed my International Compliance Association (ICA) Certificate in Compliance with a merit, in my second year I had passed my ICA Advanced Certificate in Regulatory Compliance and by the end of the programme I obtained a Merit in the ICA Governance Risk and Compliance Diploma, also achieving certified practitioner status with the ICA. This would not have been attainable without having the practical hands-on experience with the support of mentors who are specialists in their field.

Whilst I have enjoyed obtaining professional qualifications and experience, the people at Aspida are welcoming, sociable and friendly and I have made some good friends.

I am a member of the sport and social committee and it’s great to have a workplace that participates in a variety of charitable events, as well as sports and social activities. Aspida also fosters an environment where people matter and takes its Corporate Social Responsibility values seriously.

The training does not stop here though, I still have plenty of opportunity to develop my career and continue to be part of a workforce that supports their employees as well as the community.

All graduates are awarded with a 4 week paid sabbatical at the end of the 3 year programme, and I will soon be taking my leave so perhaps a pause on booking my next training course!

We are looking for school leavers/graduates to start with us in 2025
