Aspida’ s Great Bake Off returns

Staff and families at Aspida Group put their baking skills to the test with amazing results, raising over £240 for a local charity

Staff and families at Aspida Group put their baking skills to the test with amazing results, raising over £240.00 for a local charity by selling the goodies to fellow tenants in Tudor House as well as donating some of the cakes and savouries to Maison de Beauvoir and Highfield House Care Homes.

Winners were:
Savoury Bake                     Mandy Mills
Sponge Cake                      Cara Le Messurier
Decorated Cake                Morgan Wilkins
Children under 14            Libby Ferbrache
Any other cake                  Jess Regnard

The Star Baker prize went to Jess Regnard for her Blondies.  There was also a prize for the ‘Best Fail’ which went to Sarah Pinchemain whose husband noticed the fruit for her Christmas cake steeping in alcohol and, with the best of intentions proceeded to bake it for 5 hours – without adding any other ingredients!

Independent judge, Fiona Simmonds of Little Mama’s Bakery at La Nouvelle Maritaine said: “I was so
impressed with the quality of the cakes and the amount of effort that everyone put in. To be honest, judging the Bake Off was my idea of heaven – who wouldn’t want to walk in to a room full of
cake and have to eat it! ”
